Halloween Festivities

We took several trips to the pumpkin patch this year simply because Annabelle couldn't get enough of playing in the corn!

Annabelle was not too fond of the "icky" insides of the pumpkin that Kris carved. But, she LOVED decorating hers with markers.

While trick-or-treating in downtown Washington (at the businesses), Annabelle saw another pumpkin.

This year we took Annabelle trick-or-treating at two neighbor's houses. She had a good time, but I think she enjoyed giving things out more than receiving them :)

Annabelle really enjoyed pouring her candy out of the bucket and then putting it back piece by piece.

Misc October Pictures

Annabelle is quite a busy girl these days. Some of the new things she has been doing:

Finally starting to talk a little: Mama, Dada, Cheese, Socks, Shoes, What's This and What's That are down pat; she's also tried out Ball, Up, Down, and Tissue (darn allergies)

She has starting to try to "feed" her stuffed animals (well, really anything with a mouth...including her rocking giraffe)

She loves her cozy coupe, but hasn't quite figured out how to make it "go"

She loves to "jump" in piles of leaves. Every time Kris or I would get a small pile going she would come over and jump in it, lay down in it, or kick them.

She can kick a ball.

She still loves to read and will get piles of books out, sit next to the couch and go through them one by one. She even knows when the book is upside down and will turn it around. Although the "camel on the ceiling" page of her Dr Seuss ABC book confuses her.

She's a pretty good eater. Her favorites are still cheese and fruit.

Although we've had some beautiful weather in October, there have also been a fair share of rainy/cold days. I've tried to come up with fun, new things to do to keep Annabelle occupied. She LOVES playing with giant pom poms, putting them in and out of all sorts of containers. I also tried goop (cornstarch and water) and shaving cream on her high chair tray. It seems that although she doesn't hesitate to pick up handfuls of mud, she doesn't like her hands to be sticky.

Kris' company picnic was held in October as well. Annabelle's favorite part was a bouncy house especially for toddlers.

We have discovered Annabelle is particular ticklish under her arms :)

Fall Leaves

The tree in our front yard has already lost most of its leaves. This made for an excellent leaf pile opportunity.

At first Annabelle wasn't sure what to do. Although she loves to pick up individual leaves, inspect them, and carry them around; this was a whole new ball game. Kris helped her "test the waters" by tossing some leaves into the air for her.

Eventually she got into the action too.

Then, she just went crazy "jumping" in, tossing, dropping, swishing, and enjoying the big pile of leaves.

Thanks, Daddy, for such a fun time playing in the leaves!

Funny combinations

Annabelle likes to carry things around the house and move them from one spot to another.

Here she has a computer mouse (oops!) and flashlight and a bib she put on inside out.

This time it's a pasta spoon, her lovey and my headband (she had a little help after a few unsuccessful attempts at getting it on her head).

Grant's Farm

We've been having beautiful weather and had a chance to get out and enjoy it at Grant's Farm a few weekends ago. Annabelle loved seeing all the animals, but especially enjoyed the chickens and being able to walk all around.

Annabelle was a bit wary of the goats and rightly so. Shortly after this picture a goat nipped her finger! (You can buy bottles of milk to feed them and I guess they get a bit upset if you don't have anything for them to eat).

Annabelle and Kris get an up close look at a camel (you can see him in the reflection in Kris' sunglasses).

Looking through the fence posts at the llamas.

Playing in September

Annabelle loves to stack things. Here, she was trying to put the stacking toys on the Lorax's head.

Our little pianist.

Visit to Danville

Annabelle and I were lucky enough to get to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Danville for 9 days in September! We also went to the baby shower of a good college friend and visited family in Cincinnati. It was a jam-packed, fun-filled trip and I think we wore Grandma and Grandpa out!

Some highlights (sans pictures):
Lots of time at the playgrounds in Danville. Annabelle even found a wonderful puzzle to splash in...and sit in...and eventually lay down in!
Story time and two visits to the Danville library children's department. Has anyone else ever seen a giant gazebo with little nooks and crannies to hang out and read a book in the middle of the library?
Lots of good food. Annabelle loved Cincinnati Chili!
Taking walks around Grandma and Grandpa's neighborhood. Annabelle loved to look at the trees, plants and manhole covers (of which she had to stop and stomp on each).
Spending lots of time playing with all Grandma's garage sale find toys, empty boxes, and junk mail.
Watching the birds while eating breakfast.

Annabelle's Kisses

Annabelle is a very loving little girl! She gives us lots of hugs and kisses. But, today, she did something new! At dinner, Kris gave her an air kiss and she made the kissing sound back. Check it out...

August Pictures...so far...

And now for some more recent pictures (at least in the last few weeks).

Annabelle found one of her daddy's hats (a good one to choose, might I add). "This doesn't quite seem right..."

"Aha! Now, I've got it!"

On a recent trip to the Nature Preserve for a hike, Annabelle walked allllllll around the wildflower garden area. Kris really wanted to get a picture of her looking at one of the flowers. However, Annabelle seemed to be interested mostly in the leaves and dead flowers (not making for a very pretty picture). Finally, she chose a good candidate.

Annabelle likes to help clean the floor. When Kris or I are wiping up one of her many messes, she likes to get a rag out of the drawer to help us. If only I could get her to see where the mess is, we'd be all set... (Or, if we could get her not to throw or drop food off her tray)

One evening, I had set a folded, clean towel outside her bathroom because I didn't want her running into the bathroom behind me while I put it away. Later, as we were playing in the living room she disappeared for a while. I decided to she where she had gone... She must have gone into her room to get a book from the cabinet and her lovey from her crib and brought them here to sit on the towel and read. Maybe it was time for bed?

Pictures from July

We haven't been too great about taking pictures recently, but here are a few from July. I bit late, but still...

The weekend of July 4th we went to Evansville to visit my good friend, Miranda. Annabelle had a great time exploring a new place, but I think the trip to the Children's Museum was definitely her favorite. What a great addition to Evansville!

Annabelle loves to play in the water as we fill her tub. A lot of times she likes to hold a cup underneath the flow of water and dumps it out all over herself. Then, repeat...

She also loves to go to the playground. And, although she likes to play on the equipment, she seems to get more enjoyment from exploring everything around her. Unfortunately, lately she's taken to trying to find every little piece of trash to bring to me to throw away. Although I appreciate her enthusiasm for a clean environment, it's a bit gross... Another favorite playground pastime is playing with the wood chips, especially if she can find a stick to dig with!

Crazy Spinning Baby

Annabelle LOVES to spin in circles these days. Usually, she is prompted by music, but this evening she started spinning for no particular reason. Check it out...

Who's Afraid of the Dark?

Not Annabelle! I often find Annabelle playing in her room all by herself with all the lights off. How she can even see what she's doing (with room darkening shades/blanket over the window), have no idea! But, not only is she not afraid of playing in her room in the dark; check this out...

So She Thinks She Can Dance

Today, during a music segment on TV, Annabelle started doing this "dance" and "singing". She's been practicing all day!

T-I-double-grrrrr

Somehow I always manage to catch these crazy "grrrr" faces that Annabelle makes rather than the oh-so-cute smile that comes just before...

Another Walking Video

As per my mom's request, here is another, more recent, video of Annabelle walking. It's amazing how quick she is now!

She's Walking!

On her first birthday, Annabelle took seven slow, deliberate steps while at the playground with Mommy and Grandma Dube. From then on, she's been getting progressively better. It's now official...she's a walker! In fact, she seems to prefer walking to crawling at this point. She also likes to pick things up (like her stuffed Lorax) and carry them around with her. Although, I think she's a little overconfident about her strength as she tries to carry two or three things at one, some of which are bigger than her! Here's a video of our little walker from one week ago. We'll have to get another one posted soon. It's amazing how much better she gets every day!

One Year Ago Today

I can't believe a year has already flown by!

Annabelle's first birthday has been quite eventful so far.
She had her 12 month appointment this morning (complete with three vaccines and two vials of blood!). After a wonderful nap, we ate some lunch and went to the playground with grandma. Annabelle had a wonderful time climbing, swinging, crawling, and watching the older kids.
Now, we're back home and she's taking another nap. Then, we're going for a walk and eating at Steak and Shake for dinner...yum!
We're saving all the celebrations (cake, presents, etc.) for tomorrow when Kris will be able to spend more time with us.

Update on her stats:
length/height: 28 3/4" (25%)
weight: 16lbs 8 oz (3%)
Healthy little girl!

Vacation Part 4: Virginia Beach

We spent the final few days of vacation in Virginia Beach. One of Kris' good friends from high school got married on the beach, right outside an awesome beach house that they rented for the week. Annabelle almost made it through the ceremony. Afterwards, she had a great time playing with the other kids (always watching and learning from the older ones!)

and entertaining the adults.

We also got some quality beach time in and found out that Annabelle loves the beach!
At first she was a bit afraid of the ocean (don't blamer her, I still am!) and didn't want her feet to touch the water.

But, she loved playing in the sand (and, later, the water too).

Vacation Part Three: Williamsburg

On Tuesday morning, we went to the Richmond Botanical Garden and had lunch with a high school buddy of Kris' before heading to Williamsburg. There, we met up with Kris' parents and brother's family. Annabelle loved seeing her cousins, Noah (20 months) and Eric (11 years). Annabelle really enjoyed being carried around by Eric and I think she learned lots of mischievous new things from Noah. For dinner, we ate at a delicious Chinese buffet where Kris loaded up on sushi (since we never get it...bleh!) Then, on Wednesday we visited Colonial Williamsburg and the outlet mall.

Our oh-so-cute nephew, Noah.

Annabelle and Noah mostly played around in the "commons" area. Noah, showing Annabelle how to work the buckle of his stroller.

Annabelle had a very fussy morning, but fell asleep in my arms (a rare occasion!) just as we were on our way to the car to go back to the hotel for a nap. So, we took a break under a tree.

All of us at Colonial Williamsburg.

Vacation Part Two: Richmond

On day three of our vacation, we were in Richmond (where Kris spent most of his high school days). We visited the Children's Museum (where she did her first painting and made her first collage), got some sweet treats at the candy store next door (woohoo Groupon!), and spent some time with my Aunt Anne. I can't believe we didn't get any pictures with her! What were with thinking?!?

Riding the train (Annabelle was a bit worried about the loud animal sounds)

Playing in the water table...splash, splash!

What big sunglasses you have, Mommy!

She was supposed to be sorting vegetables into these bins. She thought it would make a better climbing apparatus.

See? I like peas!
